Naturally Layered is a place for women who want to feel comfortable in what they wear and make thoughtful choices about the fibers next to their skin. From everyday essentials to layers for changing seasons and outdoor adventures, we cover natural fibers, practical clothing, and products designed to work with real life.
Why Naturally Layered?
Naturally Layered grew out of my own experience trying to find clothing that worked for the weather and still felt good to wear. After spending my life in California, a trip to Oklahoma, in the middle of winter suddenly had me searching for serious cold-weather clothing. I was surprised by how difficult it was to find women’s outdoor wear made with the natural fibers I wanted, and I eventually found myself buying men’s clothing instead.
That experience stayed with me. Later, when I needed a lightweight jacket for warmer rainy weather, I put on one made mostly from synthetic materials and immediately felt uncomfortable and closed in. It reinforced what I had already discovered: I wanted clothing that protected me from the weather without sacrificing how it felt to wear.
What You’ll Find Here
Naturally Layered explores natural fibers, everyday clothing, and outdoor layers for women who want practical options without giving up comfort. We’ll look at how different fibers perform, where they work best, and how to choose clothing for everything from warm days and everyday wear to rain, travel, and cold-weather adventures.
A Thoughtful Approach
The goal of Naturally Layered is not simply to recommend more things to buy. It’s to help women understand their options and find clothing that makes sense for their bodies, their activities, and the conditions they’re dressing for. When we recommend products, we’ll look beyond appearance to consider the fibers, construction, comfort, function, and intended use.
Part of that journey is also questioning what we think we know about natural fibers. Like many women I’ve talked with, I grew up associating wool with clothing that was scratchy and itchy. I also had no idea there were so many natural-fiber options for underwear and bras beyond the cotton and silk I already knew. Discovering what is available today opened up a whole new way of thinking about the layers we wear closest to our skin—and the ones we wear out into the world.
